Installation, Power, and Wiring Guide for eSSL uFace 602

The eSSL uFace 602 multi-biometric terminal delivers high-throughput access control and time attendance management within commercial and industrial facilities. Correct physical placement and proper termination of electrical, relay, and data lines are critical to maintaining the high performance of its 1.0 GHz processor, 500 DPI optical fingerprint reader, 4.3-inch touch screen, and dual facial capture hardware.

Physical Footprint and Environmental Conditions

The terminal features an enclosure with dimensions of 194.1 mm x 169.0 mm x 109.0 mm and has a gross packaging weight of approximately 1.6 kg. Integrators should position the device on a stable vertical surface at an elevation that accommodates the optical axis of the facial recognition cameras for standing users, while providing direct, unhindered access to the 4.3-inch touch screen and the 4x4 physical keypad with 5 dedicated function keys.

Installers must verify that the deployment environment complies with the manufacturer's specified environmental limits. The unit operates within a temperature range of 0 °C to 45 °C and a relative non-condensing humidity range of 20% to 80%. Exposure to conditions beyond these ratings will cause degraded recognition reliability or hardware malfunction.

Power Supply and Battery Connectivity

The uFace 602 requires a clean, regulated input supply rated at 12V DC, 3A. For applications requiring continuous uptime through facility power interruptions, the unit accommodates an optional 7.4V 2000 mAh backup battery (they are not included). Field technicians must ensure the primary 12V DC supply capacity accommodates peak device draw—which includes processing facial algorithms, powering the 500 DPI optical sensor, activating Green/Red status LED indicators, driving the internal mini speaker, and energizing connected locking circuits.

Access Control Relay and Peripheral Wiring

The terminal's onboard access control interface provides a 12V relay output capable of switching electromagnetic (EM) locks, electric bolt locks, and electric strike locks. Field wiring connections must be executed according to system architecture requirements:

  • Lock Relay Output: Integrated 12V relay channel designed to trigger EM locks, drop bolts, or strike mechanisms in fail-safe or fail-secure setups.
  • Door Sensor Input: Dedicated terminals for magnetic door position switches to report door status and detect forced-entry conditions.
  • Egress and Annunciation: Auxiliary input terminals designed for hardwired exit request buttons and door bell buttons.
  • Life Safety Interlock: Fire alarm input linkage designed to trigger lock release sequences upon receiving an emergency signal trip.
  • Anti-Passback Wiring: Signal pathways supporting hardware-level anti-passback rule enforcement across controlled access points.
  • Controller Interface: Industry-standard Wiegand Output for transmitting credential event data directly to external multi-door access controllers.

Data Network Integration and Expansion Ports

For communications infrastructure, the uFace 602 includes an RJ45 TCP/IP network port, RS232, and RS485 serial communication channels. The device operates with native Push Data protocol capability, allowing immediate event record transmission to web-based Device Manager / ePush servers, Smart Office Suite (desktop and web versions), or eTimeTrackLite platforms.

For stand-alone installations without active cabling, the onboard USB Host port allows manual log collection and administrative template deployment via flash storage. System integrators can also wire auxiliary hardware to the terminal's peripheral channels, which support external ticket/receipt printers, an optional external speaker output, and an optional external indicator bulb for enhanced auditory and visual signaling across industrial workspaces.
