System, Hardware, and Network Compatibility

Access Control Controller and Protocol Compatibility

The eSSL MU-AI-9 facial recognition terminal is designed to integrate into both standalone door environments and distributed enterprise access control architectures. For facilities utilizing centralized access controllers or third-party multi-door panels, the terminal supports industry-standard Wiegand communication protocols in both 26-bit and 34-bit formats. Equipped with one dedicated Wiegand input and one Wiegand output port, the terminal can function either as an edge biometric verification point feeding credential data upstream to an external controller, or as a host unit receiving credential inputs from auxiliary slave readers.

Peripheral Hardware and Door Automation Interfacing

Physical integration with door automation and perimeter security hardware is executed via the terminal's rear-mounted external cable connection harness. The device provides dedicated onboard inputs and outputs designed to coordinate lock control and perimeter monitoring:

  • Lock Relay Output (1 Port): Connects directly to electronic locking circuits, supporting integration with external electromagnetic locks, electric strikes, or motorized drop bolts.
  • Door Contact Output (1 Port): Interfaces with magnetic reed switches or door position sensors to monitor real-time opening status and detect forced or prop-open events.
  • Request-to-Exit (REX) Input (1 Port): Accepts inputs from momentary exit push buttons or motion egress sensors to release locks from within secure zones.
  • Auxiliary Alarm Input (1 Port): Connects to external sensory trip lines or building automation trigger relays.
  • Auxiliary Alarm Output (1 Port): Delivers alert outputs to drive local buzzers, facility annunciation panels, or building alarm inputs when triggered by anti-tamper or security infractions.

Credential and Identification Technology Compatibility

The unit features multi-modal verification capabilities managed by an embedded Linux operating system. In addition to high-capacity facial template matching driven by dual 2-megapixel visible light and infrared cameras with active IR fill illumination, the terminal integrates a high-frequency contactless card reader module. The onboard reader is compatible with standard 13.56 MHz Mifare smart cards. The terminal's internal non-volatile memory accommodates up to 50,000 Mifare card records, 50,000 face templates, and up to 50,000 standalone transaction event logs.

Network Infrastructure and Software Integration

For communication with time attendance, payroll, and central access control software platforms, the eSSL MU-AI-9 provides dual physical-layer networking options:

  • Wired Ethernet: Integrates a 10/100 Mbps RJ45 Ethernet network interface for direct structured LAN/WAN connectivity.
  • Wireless Network: Incorporates a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi radio module compliant with IEEE standard wireless networks, eliminating the necessity for dedicated data drop lines in retrofits.
  • Platform Synchronisation: The device natively supports configuration for direct local PC connections, network TCP/IP communications, and cloud server synchronization settings.
