Installation and Integration Guide for eSSL BG100 Folding Arm Barrier

Proper installation of the eSSL BG100 automatic boom barrier gate ensures reliable traffic throughput, mechanical longevity, and dependable perimeter access control. Engineered specifically for sites where vertical overhead space is restricted, the BG100 incorporates an articulated folding mechanism paired with an internal 90 W, 220 V AC drive motor.

Cabinet Foundation and Physical Enclosure Placement

The barrier housing features external dimensions of 268 mm x 348 mm x 1050 mm. Installation begins with civil preparation of a level, reinforced concrete foundation pad capable of securing the barrier cabinet against mechanical vibration and continuous cycling. The cabinet features an IP67 ingress protection rating, shielding internal electrical hardware from environmental particulate and water intrusion across an operating temperature range of -20°C to +50°C. Adequate clearance must be maintained around the housing footprint to permit unhindered access to the internal service compartment.

Articulated Aluminium Arm and Boom Rest Stand Setup

The folding boom arm is manufactured from lightweight aluminium, supporting a total extended length of up to 5 meters. Technicians must configure the articulated joint according to site-specific ceiling height and lane width parameters using one of the factory-supported segmental combinations: 2.5 m + 2.5 m, 3 m + 2 m, or 2 m + 3 m. Secure mechanical alignment with the supplied boom rest stand is required at the end of the driveway. The rest stand supports the extended 5-meter folding boom arm in the horizontal closed position, mitigating mechanical strain on the drive shaft and pivot linkage.

Power Supply and Line Voltage Connections

Electrical power connects to an internal switched-mode power supply (SMPS) designed to accept utility input of AC 220V or AC 110V at 50Hz or 60Hz. The internal SMPS drives the 90 W, 220 V AC motor mechanism. Power cabling must be routed through the dedicated bottom conduit entries to preserve the IP67 seal integrity of the enclosure.

Control Interface and Safety Peripheral Wiring

Control actuation is executed via standard dry contact signals. The eSSL BG100 mainboard includes dedicated terminal connection points for integrating external detection devices and peripheral security hardware:

  • Input Interfaces: Dedicated connection terminals for infrared photocell safety sensors, an air pressure safety switch, and an inductive vehicle loop detector to prevent premature gate closure.
  • Output Interface: A dedicated control output terminal designed to drive 1 external traffic or status indicator lamp.
  • Optional System Integration: Auxiliary terminal interfaces accept dry contact triggers from external multi-door access control panels, standalone access control readers, and remote manual push-button stations.

Commissioning, Limit Travel, and Operational Tuning

Initial system calibration can be performed directly inside the housing using the incorporated control panel, which features three dedicated physical push buttons marked STOP, UP, and DOWN. Opening and closing cycle travel is calibrated for a transit time of 6 seconds.

During commissioning, technicians can set the programmable auto-closing delay between 1 second and 80 seconds to match site traffic flow. The internal bumping bounce-back safety feature must be validated to confirm that the barrier arm reverses upward immediately upon encountering physical obstruction. For servicing, line maintenance, or utility interruptions, the system supports switching between Automatic and Manual operating modes. Wireless control verification is completed using the accompanying remote control unit, which operates at ranges up to 25 meters.
