Tychem 2000 fabric provides at least 30 minutes of permeation barrier protection against 42 standard chemical challenges in ambient temperatures between -13°F (-25°C) and 165°F (74°C). However, the serged seam construction on model QC127S is degraded by strong acids and must not be used where concentrated liquid acid splashes or pressurized chemical jets are present.

The DuPont™ Tychem® 2000 barrier fabric provides at least 30 minutes of breakthrough resistance against 42 common chemical challenges, operating effectively across ambient temperatures ranging from -13°F (-25°C) to 165°F (74°C). The fabric may stiffen in sub-zero working conditions, while elevated ambient temperatures will accelerate chemical permeation rates.

Important Seam Limitation: Model QC127S utilizes serged (thread-stitched) seams. Per DuPont technical instructions, serged seams are degraded by aggressive liquid chemicals, including strong acids, and needle perforations do not form a barrier against pressurized spray or heavy pooling liquids. Seams and front zipper closures exhibit shorter breakthrough times and higher permeation rates than the solid fabric plane. If the risk assessment indicates exposure to continuous liquid streams or concentrated inorganic acids, taped-seam chemical garments must be selected instead.
