Biomax N-WL10 Biometric Terminal Mounting, Network Setup, and Commissioning Guide

Mechanical Wall Mounting Procedure

The Biomax N-WL10 biometric time and attendance terminal features a compact footprint measuring 180 mm x 130 mm x 35 mm and a net physical weight of 0.53 kg. The chassis is engineered for rigid surface mounting using the supplied rear back-plate hanging system. Installation requires a standard three-step mechanical sequence to secure the hardware firmly against vibration or dislodgement.

First, position the back plate at an accessible operating height and drill the marked holes into the wall, securing the plate with compatible wall fixings. Second, align the device with the upper hook mechanism of the back plate and drop the housing into position. Third, secure the assembly by tightening the bottom retaining screw located at the base of the terminal. Ensure the terminal is installed within an operating temperature threshold of 0°C to 50°C.

Power Supply and Electrical Wiring

The terminal operates on a regulated 5V DC, 1A power supply input. Line power must be supplied through the designated external DC input port. The device architecture does not draw power from internal disposable cells, and standard external or backup batteries (they are not included) are not utilized within the package.

Verify that voltage delivery does not fluctuate outside standard DC tolerances before powering on the Industrial High Speed CPU and 2.8-inch TFT LCD color display screen. Stable power ensures continuous logging to the internal 100,000-transaction memory buffer.

Wireless Network Planning & Wi-Fi Deployment

The N-WL10 supports wireless data transmission across standard 802.11b/g/n infrastructure. Network performance and transmission stability depend on spatial radio frequency (RF) planning between the terminal and surrounding access points:

  • WLAN Infrastructure Mode: The terminal must be installed within a maximum indoor communication distance of 20 meters from the wireless router. Concrete wall thickness, structural columns, and metallic obstacles attenuate signal strength and cause packet degradation.
  • Hotspot Peer-to-Peer Mode: When connecting directly between the terminal's built-in hotspot mode and a technician's mobile device, maintain a physical separation distance of no more than 15 meters.
  • Offline / USB Host Configuration: If Wi-Fi is unavailable on site, transaction logs (Attlog) and user databases can be exported directly via a USB flash memory drive inserted into the integrated USB Host slot.

Biometric Optical Sensor Enrollment and Administrator Provisioning

The device features an integrated 500 DPI optical prism scanner yielding a False Acceptance Rate (FAR) of 0.00001% and a False Rejection Rate (FRR) of 0.001%. Initial enrollment procedures must be performed systematically to ensure rapid sub-one-second identification during operation:

  • Fingerprint Registration: Instruct users to position their target finger centered flat upon the optical prism surface three consecutive times until registration is successfully acknowledged by the system.
  • Administrator Assignment: Register a minimum of two Super Administrators during commissioning to prevent administrative lockout if an administrator is absent.
  • Algorithm Architecture: The terminal supports selectable ZKFinger VX10.0 or ZKFinger VX13.0 algorithms. Note that switching biometric algorithms reboots the unit and purges all existing template data and attendance records.
  • Data Input: Alphanumeric employee names up to 23 characters can be entered directly at the device using the integrated numeric keypad via T9 text input.
