System Unpacking and Pre-Installation Verification

Before beginning deployment, inspect all components included in the package. The Ahuja AWM-495V2 dual-channel VHF wireless microphone package comprises one dual-channel receiver unit (230 mm W x 42 mm H x 150 mm D), two handheld wireless transmitters (55 mm diameter x 248 mm length), one 220–240V AC to 12V DC power adapter, and a 6.35 mm (1/4") audio patch cable. Ensure the receiver chassis and handheld transmitter housings are physically intact before making electrical connections.

Receiver Placement and Antenna Deployment

Position the receiver on a flat, stable tabletop or equipment shelf within line-of-sight of the transmitter operating area. Avoid placing the receiver inside fully enclosed metallic racks, adjacent to digital RF radiating devices, or directly against large structural metal framing, as this can degrade VHF high-band signal propagation.

Fully extend both rear-mounted telescopic antennas vertically or angled outward in a V-orientation. Proper antenna extension is necessary for maintaining RF sensitivity across the quartz crystal locked carrier frequencies (frequency stability of ±0.005%).

Receiver Power and Audio Interfacing

Connect the included power adapter to a standard 220–240V AC mains outlet and insert the 12V DC barrel connector into the DC input jack located on the rear panel of the receiver.

Configure the audio signal path based on your mixer or amplifier routing architecture using 6.35 mm (1/4") unbalanced cables:

  • Discrete Channel Operation: Connect dedicated 6.35 mm cables from OUT 1 and OUT 2 (0–55 mV / 1 kΩ) into two discrete microphone or line input channels on your mixing console or public address amplifier. This permits independent gain staging and EQ balancing for each dynamic cardioid transmitter.
  • Mixed Output Operation: Connect a single 6.35 mm cable from the OUT 1+2 jack (0–55 mV / 1 kΩ) into a single mixer or amplifier input channel when channel availability on the host PA system is constrained.

Transmitter Battery Installation and Preparation

Each handheld transmitter requires 2 x 1.5V AA pencil cells (they are not included) to provide the 3V operating supply (rated current consumption ≤100 mA). Unscrew the lower cylindrical barrel of each microphone housing to access the internal battery compartment. Insert two AA batteries (they are not included) matching the indicated positive (+) and negative (-) polarity terminals, then thread the lower barrel securely back into place.

Commissioning and RF Verification

Power on the receiver unit. Set the power switch on each handheld transmitter to the ON position. Verify that the corresponding green LED channel indicators (Channel 1 and Channel 2) on the receiver front panel illuminate, confirming carrier acquisition across the VHF high-band links (80 dB with
