System Placement & Physical Setup

The Ahuja ACM-96 single-zone desktop paging microphone is engineered for rapid deployment across commercial paging counters, podium speech stations, industrial dispatch desks, and security control rooms. Position the microphone base on a stable, flat horizontal work surface within easy reach of the operator. The heavy-duty base construction, featuring a sturdy aluminium die-cast top housing, ensures mechanical stability during high-frequency switch operations without sliding or tipping.

Adjust the integrated 300 mm (12-inch) flexible gooseneck to position the unidirectional dynamic cartridge directly toward the speaker's mouth. For optimal acoustic capture and maximum vocal intelligibility, align the gooseneck so the microphone capsule sits 100 mm to 150 mm away from the talker at an angle that avoids direct plosive air bursts while maintaining focused on-axis voice pickup.

Audio Interfacing & Cable Routing

The Ahuja ACM-96 is supplied complete with a factory-assembled 6-meter twin-core shielded low-noise cable terminated in a standard 6.3 mm (1/4") mono phone plug. This shielded cable design minimizes electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI) across long desktop-to-rack cable runs.

  • Input Matching: Insert the 6.3 mm phone plug directly into any standard 600 Ohm medium-impedance dynamic microphone input jack located on your public address (PA) amplifier, zone selector, or audio mixing console.
  • Cable Management: Route the 6-meter cable along dedicated low-voltage desk raceways or cable trays. Maintain physical separation between this microphone audio line and high-voltage AC mains wiring or 100V/70V distributed speaker lines to prevent induced hum and cross-talk.
  • Strain Relief: Ensure sufficient slack at the desktop base exit point to prevent mechanical stress or accidental disconnection when repositioning the base unit.

Switch Operation & Functional Testing

The base unit incorporates high-reliability control switching designed for demanding commercial dispatch environments:

  • Momentary Paging: Depress the press-to-talk switch for short, intermittent zone announcements. The circuit engages instantly when held down and disengages when released.
  • Continuous Paging / Hands-Free Address: Engage the lockable TALK switch for extended speech reinforcement, podium presentations, or continuous emergency broadcasts without holding the switch manually.
  • Visual Status Monitoring: Observe the integrated LED indicators on the base station to confirm active microphone transmission status during operation.

Commissioning & Acoustic Calibration

After completing physical and audio connections, power on the central PA amplifier or mixer. Set the amplifier master volume to a baseline operational level, then gradually adjust the corresponding 600 Ohm microphone channel gain control while speaking into the dynamic cartridge. Given the transducer sensitivity of 2.0 mV/Pa and frequency response range of 50 Hz to 10,000 Hz, set input trim to achieve crisp vocal delivery without clipping the amplifier input stage or inducing acoustic feedback from nearby zone loudspeakers.
