FAQ

What materials are used in the construction of 3M 764 yellow vinyl tape?

Answer:
The tape features a pigmented polyvinyl chloride (PVC) backing coated with a pressure-sensitive rubber adhesive. This combination ensures instant adhesion upon application and sufficient flexibility to conform to curved or irregular profiles.

3M™ General Purpose Vinyl Tape 764 is engineered with two primary structural components:

  • Backing: Pigmented polyvinyl chloride (PVC) film. The yellow pigment is integrated throughout the vinyl backing, allowing it to maintain visibility while protecting parts, equipment, or floor lanes from surface abrasion. The vinyl construction provides flexibility and elongation (up to 180%) to conform smoothly to irregular or contoured surfaces.
  • Adhesive: Pressure-sensitive rubber formulation engineered for immediate surface grab and non-critical safety marking, bundling, and color coding.
