FAQ

What surface preparation and chemical exposure conditions apply to 3M 764 blue marking tape?

Answer:
Apply to clean, dry surfaces at temperatures between 16°C and 27°C (60°F to 80°F). Avoid exposure to ketones, chlorinated hydrocarbons, and esters found in thinners, degreasers, and paint strippers, as they cause vinyl swelling and curling.

Optimal bond strength with 3M 764 Blue Vinyl Tape is achieved when it is applied to a clean, dry surface within the recommended application temperature range of 60°F to 80°F (16°C to 27°C). Once bonded, its standard operating temperature span is 60°F to 85°F (16°C to 29°C).

Chemical Compatibility: While vinyl backings resist most common shop solvents, direct contact with ketones, chlorinated hydrocarbons, and esters (commonly present in lacquers, thinners, degreasers, and paint strippers) should be avoided, as these agents cause the PVC backing to swell or curl away from the substrate.
