Mechanical Mounting and Orientation Options

The KTI 300 mm Red + Amber traffic signal light (SKU: KTI1602290030RA) is engineered for versatile structural mounting across industrial access gates, toll collection lanes, automated parking systems, and internal plant roadways. The heavy-duty molded polycarbonate housing supports both vertical and horizontal mounting configurations using standard pole or gantry bracket assemblies.

When positioning the dual-aspect unit vertically, standard practice dictates placing the 300 mm Red aspect at the top and the 300 mm Amber aspect directly below. For horizontal installations—frequently deployed in low-clearance gantry setups, parking garage entries, and toll barrier lanes—the Red aspect should be positioned on the driver/approaching vehicle's left-hand side or per site-specific lane signaling standards. Ensure the mounting brackets are firmly anchored to vibration-free structural posts or framework to withstand wind loads and vehicle-induced mechanical vibration.

Low-Voltage DC Electrical Wiring and Terminal Termination

The signal unit operates on a dual-voltage 12V DC / 24V DC input, making it directly compatible with automated boom barrier control panels, industrial programmable logic controllers (PLCs), relay cards, battery backups, and standalone solar power units. Discrete terminal wiring inside the enclosure controls the ultra-bright LED modules for independent operation of the Red (stop) and Amber (caution/standby) aspects.

  • Polarity Verification: Ensure correct DC polarity (+ / -) when terminating field wiring to the signal's internal terminal points. Reversing polarity will prevent the solid-state LED modules from illuminating.
  • Voltage Drop Mitigation: When running long DC cable paths between the power supply/controller and the signal head, calculate cable cross-sectional area to prevent excessive voltage drop, which can cause dimming of the Red or Amber LED modules.
  • Independent Aspect Switching: Route separate switched positive (or switched negative, depending on the controller common line configuration) feeds for the Red and Amber circuits to allow interlocked or sequential signaling.

Maintaining IP65 Enclosure Sealing During Field Setup

To preserve the factory IP65 ingress protection rating against airborne industrial dust, heavy rainfall, and high-pressure water spray, all wiring pass-throughs must be executed via appropriately rated weatherproof cable entry glands. Ensure that the molded polycarbonate housing cover and impact-resistant optical lens assembly seals are seated uniformly before torquing enclosure fasteners. Do not leave unused cable knockouts open to environmental exposure.
